Five PS5 Games I’m Itching to Play

Five PS5 Games I’m Itching to Play

It’s official. The PS5 hype train has docked, refueled, and departed again, leaving us in angst as we await its arrival within the 2020 holiday season. This, of course, is all stemming from the massive PS5 reveal event that we were graced with last week. In that event, Sony teased over 20 games, gave more specifics on the hardware side of things, and finally unveiled the final design of the PS5. But of all those things, the games are what’s truly hammering the hype horn in my opinion, so I’m going to dive into the five PS5 games revealed that I am itching to play.

1 – Horizon Forbidden West

The Widely popular Horizon: Zero Dawn franchise is back with its second installment and I cannot wait to explore its apocalyptic planet earth once more. As you can see in the above release trailer a luscious underwater aspect appears to be getting added to the already massive world that was in HZD. The developers over at Guerilla games have done an excellent job here. The colors, glimmers, and reflections while underwater made me feel as if I was traversing the sunken cities myself. I thought the swimming/underwater area of Horizon Zero Dawn was one of maybe two weak points of the game, so it’s nice to see that we will have an entire new mechanic like this added into the game. We also get a glimpse of what appears to be more corruption killing the innocent wildlife within Aloy’s world as well as a few of the new machines, one of which is massive elephant that will more than likely be controlled by the villains of the game. Speaking of villains, we’re also showed who I believe will be the villains, and they are giving off massive Samoan vibes. Mark my words, Horizon Forbidden West will be one of the greatest PS5 Games, and potentially one of the greatest games in general, of all time, and I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy.

2 – Spider-Man: Miles Morales

As someone who just recently finished the first game of this destined for greatness franchise, I am absolutely stoked to see Miles Morales heading our way on PS5. Marvel’s Spider-Man was an action packed, massive open world game that allowed you to traverse New York City as Peter Parker. Throughout the story, you get little side missions where you get to play as MJ or Miles, the latter of which led right up to where Miles is bitten by a radioactive spider himself. I immediately had a feeling that he would be the focal point of the second game whenever it came out, but I had no idea that we would be getting it this soon! There is some speculation whether it will be a true standalone PS5 game, but even if this was just a large add-on to the original game I would be stoked.

Throughout the trailer you’ll notice many things, but the one thing that may have stood out to me the most was the apparent use of cloaking while Miles is fighting one of the bad guys. This was something that was used only on research missions within the original game but it was a very cool concept that I am glad might be included more within Miles Morales. Along with that, it’s also apparent that SM:MM will take place in a winter version of New York, which will be an excellent new way to tout the PS5’s incredible new graphics. We do not really get any glimpses of major villains, but it’s probably safe to assume that we will get some version of The Prowler since there is a direct tie in between him and Miles. No matter what happens with this game however, it’s safe to say that it will be a great start in showcasing what the PS5 will be providing us with in open world games going forward.

3 – Godfall

Godfall is a hack and slash RPG that appears to meet between the crossroads of Destiny, God of War, and World of Warcraft. I actually had somehow not heard of this game until the PS5 reveal event lats week, but it is at the tip-top of my radar now. The song alone in the trailer has me ready to run through a wall as I watch this decked out hero slash his way through countless enemies. Godfall has a cross between the vibrant world of Bungie’s Destiny and the Elven worlds we found ourselves in within God of War. On top of that, it is going to have some sort of leveling/gear leveling/ascension based system it appears, and I am all for that. I was a massive WoW player in high school and this game is giving off serious leveling grind vibes. I’m pretty sure not a whole lot is known about Godfall yet, but I will be putting my marbles into a Destiny sort of system in which there will be a campaign (which can be played Solo, Co-op, or Three-player) followed by dungeons, instances, or raids where you grind for gear. It is a Gearbox game as well, so we could expect some borderlands-esque traits to find their way into the game. Godfall is a must-have on any PS5 games list however as it is going to easily define the next generation of loot and slash games.

4 – Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

As a noted Norse lover, this game tickles each and every one of my fancies. But, before we dive into this fantastic looking game, I would like to note that AC Valhalla is technically not a PS5 ONLY game. However, I do believe that in order to fully experience and enjoy it you will have to play on the next gen console, thus the reasoning as to why it found its way to my PS5 games list. I have been somewhat removed from the Assassin’s Creed franchise since Origins was released way back in 2017, but Valhalla will be the game that slowly ropes me back in. Ubisoft describes the game as follows…

“Become Eivor, a mighty Viking raider and lead your clan from the harsh shores of Norway to a new home amid the lush farmlands of ninth-century England. Explore a beautiful, mysterious open world where you’ll face brutal enemies, raid fortresses, build your clan’s new settlement, and forge alliances to win glory and earn a place in Valhalla.

England in the age of the Vikings is a fractured nation of petty lords and warring kingdoms. Beneath the chaos lies a rich and untamed land waiting for a new conqueror. Will it be you?”

… which leads me to believe that this will be very similar to Origins (and Odyssey) where we will traverse an entire world to grow, level, and progress our character. I have no problem with this as I am and always have been a fan of open world, free-roam, character based progression games. So add in the fact that one of my favorite cultures will be the main focus and you have me hooked!

5 – Resident Evil Village

Once again, I do want to not that this isn’t ONLY a PS5 game, but I think it will reach its true potential on the PlayStation console. Anyways, I absolutely love survival-horror video games and Resident Evil has redefining the genre with its most recent releases. Biohazard was a must-play thriller for PS4 and it even got to the point where I couldn’t play the game at night because it was getting so creepy. But RE8, AKA Village, makes RE7 look like a children’s game. We find ourselves back with the protagonist from Biohazard as he attempts to settle back into normalcy with his wife. However, Chris Redfield (the original Resident Evil character) “suddenly disrupts their life, throwing a devastated Ethan into a new and twisted nightmare in search of answers”. The game is clearly going to take place in a village (big Transylvania vibes here) where there is some sort of which cult, werewolves, and potentially vampires. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe I also saw Van Helsing in the trailer as well. Capcom and Re-Engine have created a masterpiece here it seems and I cannot wait to get my hands on a copy.

So, as we anxiously await 2020s Holiday season and the release of the PS5, I’m positive we will all be sitting on our couches dying to get these new games. While you’re waiting though, be sure to periodically check DustyPosts for news and updates for anything PlayStation related. I will constantly be on the lookout for anything new on the PS5 front and have tons of other PlayStation content already available on my site!
